Amy Poehler’s ‘Wine Country’ for Netflix looks like the best girls weekend ever

The basic premise of a group of old friends coming together to celebrate one of their own turning 50 by planning a trip to Napa is ripe with comedic possibility.

Poehler stars as Abby, a woman who organizes her friend Rebecca's (Dratch) 50th birthday weekend in wine country. Former SNL writers Emily Spivey and Liz Cackowski co-wrote the screenplay from a story they developed with Amy Poehler.

Parks and Rec star Amy Poehler is to make her directorial debut with new Netflix comedy Wine Country. Joining SNL actresses Ana Gasteyer, Rachel Dratch, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler onscreen are two SNL writers that have helped make everyone so amusing over the years, Paula Pell and Emily Spivey. The first look at the trailer promises plenty of laughs, sing-a-longs, and wine.

In addition to the people listed above, Poehler has also assembled the likes of Tina Fey, Jason Schwartzman and Cherry Jones. "Yet as the alcohol flows, real-world uncertainties intrude on the punchlines and gossip, and the women begin questioning their friendships and futures".

Wine Country lands on Netflix on May 10 and will also play in select theaters starting May 8.
