What's the science? Well according to NASA, these are a few of the contributing factors that make a boring, regular moon; super. The equinox happens at 3:58 p.m. MT, while the full moon and supermoon will show at 7:43 p.m. MT, according to EarthSky.
Full moons in March have many names, including some drawn from Native American customs. The last time the vernal equinox and full moon happened on the same day was March 20, 1981, according to the Farmer's Almanac.

The supermoon comes a day after the moon reaches perigree, the closest point to Earth, making the full moon a supermoon, which makes it appear slightly larger than the full moon usually does, Space.com reports. Typically, three to five supermoons occur in any year. In fact, it can appear as much as 30 percent brighter than normal.
So, when does a super moon occur? Perigee happens because the moon's orbit is not a ideal circle, so there are times when it is relatively close to us on Earth and other times when it is comparatively far away.
The moon is also special for another reason. That's roughly 14,000 miles closer than average.
The moon will set on Thursday at 7:44 a.m. Eastern from the GFS weather model.
It is the third and final "supermoon" of 2019. It should stay dry through the evening, with rain possible later at night.
