MLB News Mike Trout Signs Record Deal with Anaheim Angels

The average yearly salary of $36 million a year for Trout also tops the previous record of $34.4 million held by Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke. He's won the award twice in seven full seasons with the Angels.

The deal, per Passan's report, replaces the final two years and $68 million on Trout's current contract, so it is essentially adds a decade and $362 million to the one already in place.

The $430 million-plus total is more than 30 percent larger than the $330 million deal Bryce Harper signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on March 2 and bests boxer Canelo Alvarez's deal with DAZN by more than $65 million. By WAR, he is the best position player in baseball history through at age and has been that for more or less the entirety of his big-league career.

Trout is from New Jersey and grew up a Phillies fan, and Harper made his intentions clear after he signed: he was going to call Trout and try to convince him to sign with the Phillies.

And though both 2018 free agents are a year younger than the 27-year-old Trout, both have endured at least some inconsistency over the course of their careers.

But Forky is questioning his goal in life and ends up jumping out of the family RV to escape. "I was made to help a child". I personally thought so, and never thought that there would be another Toy Story movie again after that flawless finale.

The deal does not include any opt-outs, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

In 2003, Arte Moreno bought the Angels from Disney for $184 million.

If anything, Trout could still be considered underpaid relative to his lead over the rest of the sport in performance-value.

Action Network GQ's senior golf writer Jason Sobel pointed out that Trout's $430 million extension is 'worth more than the combined career PGA Tour earnings of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk and Dustin Johnson - the top-five on the all-time money list'.

So, the first A-Rod deal is actually worth more on a per-year basis than Trout's if you factor in inflation from the signing of the deal, and the second is worth less.
