Had McCarron been on the Raiders' roster on Friday, he would have received a $1.9 million bonus, and $1.1 million of his $3 million base salary for the 2019 season would have become guaranteed, too.

There are several mid-round quarterback options in this year's draft that coach Jon Gruden is familiar with from the Senior Bowl, like North Carolina State's Ryan Finley, Washington State's Gardner Minshew II and Buffalo's Tyree Jackson.

The Oakland Raiders released veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson, the team announced Thursday. "If you watched Jordy play carefully the last four weeks when he's been healthy, you see what he's capable of doing".

US Senate votes to end involvement in Yemen war

Arizona Cardinals' J.J. Nelson (14) runs during the second half of an NFL football game against the Indianapolis Colts, Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, in Indianapolis.

The Green Bay Packers released Nelson and he joined the Raiders on a two-year deal before the 2018 campaign. He spent his first nine seasons in the league with the franchise.

Nelson would have been battling for field time with Brown and Tyrell Williams, who also was just signed by the Raiders. He has 613 catches for 8,587 yards and 72 touchdowns in his career. His arrival could also spell the end for Seth Roberts, who will count nearly $5 million against the cap next season, and with second-year wideout Marcell Ateman waiting in the wings, Roberts could be the odd man out.
