Teddy Bridgewater Returning to Saints on One-Year, $7.25M Deal

Bridgewater now will sign a one-year, $7.25 million fully guaranteed contract with the Saints, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

We thought Teddy Bridgewater turned down an offer from the Dolphins to remain with the Saints. Bridgewater is also from Miami.

Bridgewater was chosen by the Vikings in the 1st round of the 2014 draft and made the Pro Bowl in 2015.

Miami is expected to move on from Ryan Tannehill.

Bridgewater, a former Miami Northwestern standout, believes he could continue to improve under Saints coach Sean Payton and eventually succeed quarterback Drew Brees as the future Saints starter.

The Dolphins confirmed the meeting later Wednesday. But he ultimately made a decision to stay put in New Orleans, where he spent last season after the Saints traded a third-round pick to acquire him and a sixth-rounder from the New York Jets.

Taylor is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers to be Phillip Rivers' backup, according to the NFL Network. Bridgewater looked to be in line to land the starting job in New Orleans after Brees' retirement, but it looks like he's considering other options. To compound this development, Dianna Russini of ESPN has reported that while the Saints are still confident they will sign Bridgewater, a deal is not imminent.
