The Trump administration will insist North Korea follow through on its commitment to completely eliminate its nuclear weapons before the USA agrees to the lifting of global sanctions, the State Department's special envoy for North Korea said Monday.
Q4 Now this comes at a time when there have been reports that North Korea could take provocative action following satellite imagery showing fix work being done at its Dongchang-ri missile test site.
Japan has decided for the first time in years not to submit to the United Nations a joint resolution condemning North Korea's human rights abuses, given USA efforts to end North Korea's weapons program and other factors, Japan said on Wednesday.
Other satellite images show increased vehicle activities at a separate North Korean facility used to manufacture missiles, and rockets for satellite launches.
North Korea favours a more step-by-approach, with Kim proposing dismantling its Yongbyon nuclear complex in exchange for lifting the main sanctions - a notion Trump refused in Hanoi despite the vaunted "chemistry" between the pair. They - they never seem to get around to it though.
Experts see these activities as North Korea signaling its refusal to accept the US position.
