Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: David De Gea not at fault

Arsenal need to turn around a 2-0 deficit against Rennes in the last 16 of the Europa League

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered his first defeat in the English Premier League as caretaker manager of Manchester United, as his side was beaten 2-0 by Arsenal.

"We are disappointed with the result but looking at the performance, you can not say it was a game we deserved to lose", he said. The personnel issues are in part down to the training and the way he's been selecting players through his time at United and the way he's getting them to play.

"We couldn't have asked for more at this stage of the season but we are all convinced that Liverpool will win every single remaining game until the end of the season", Kompany told reporters. It is all in our hands now, and as Xhaka says - WE ARE BACK IN THE GAME!

"It's not scratching your head". Sometimes it happens, we hit the woodwork twice. Some days, strikers take them; some days, they don't.

"The referee will be disappointed when he sees it as I don't think it is a penalty", United interim manger Solskjaer complained.

"In addition, we have written to both Birmingham City and Arsenal to seek their observations and examine the security measures they had in place".

However, Solskjaer refused to condemn United keeper David de Gea after he was left flat-footed by Xhaka's swerving long-range effort.

David de Gea in particular is said to be unhappy with the club's refusal to raise his wages to a similar amount to the Chilean's. "The ball moves so unusual, and when you see it on telly, it looks like it goes to David's left and it just changes direction".

"It's one of them where we weren't really at it".

"The performance was good but the result was disappointing".

"Not at all", he said.

Nobody could argue that the Red Devils star did not drop a clanger with the opening goal of the game, but their fans recognise the amount of times their stopper has bailed them out of trouble in his career, and most are willing to be sympathetic towards the Spaniard rather than blame him. They scored the first one and maybe let us have the ball a bit more than they wanted to.

"Maybe a backlash from Wednesday night, but we created chances and when they get the first goal it becomes a different game".
