A 28-year-old woman stabbed her 11-year-old daughter to death Sunday because she thought the girl was having sex with men, according to an arrest affidavit.
Sheriff's officials say the mother took the child to a home where she accused her mother's boyfriend of having sex with the girl. Witnesses told detectives the child denied having sex with anyone.
Police allege that Rivera became "argumentative" and "produced a knife" when officers informed her Aleyda was dead, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
"Rosa Rivera killed her daughter because she wanted to prevent her from having sexual relations with men", Sheriff John Mina told WFTV on Monday.
Police say Rivera believed her daughter, 11-year-old Aleyda Rivera, was having sex with men because she began to smile "different".

There are even suggestions that she should declare she's standing down this summer in return for more votes on Tuesday. First, a new vote on whether to leave with no deal - which is hugely unpopular with MPs.
Rivera told deputies she did not see her daughter having sex and her daughter did not say that she was having sex.
The mother's arrest follows Rivera driving up to the medical facility and demanding medical assistance for her daughter. Rivera told them she "felt guilty" about the incident and harmed her own left arm, the report said.
WESH2 reports she was apprehended at the hospital by Orlando police officers.
'Rivera stated she believed with her actions that her daughter is now in heaven, ' the affidavit said.
"Rivera stated she stabbed her daughter while in the vehicle, and while stabbing her she was attempting to make her more comfortable", police said in an arrest report.
Following an investigation, Rivera was charged with first-degree murder. They believed that probable cause existed to charge Rosa River with First Degree Murder and she was transported to the Orange County Jail.
