Singer Jennifer Lopez took the stage at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, and she sang and danced her way through a comprehensive Motown tribute.

"I don't think anyone who is intelligent is upset", he said. He added, "I think anyone who is upset is stupid". In an interview with Variety at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party on Saturday, Robinson defended the decision asserting that Motown's music is for everybody. "J Lo was great and we at Motown love her". But it's more than that he reminded. Motown was a black-owned record label that put out music by predominantly black artists like the Supremes, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. So that just says Jennifer Lopez, growing up in her Hispanic neighborhood, wherever she was, loved Motown.

Meanwhile, R&B/Motown enthusiasts are pissed that Lopez reportedly lip-synced over classic Motown tracks with Robinson.

Jennifer Lopez turned the Motown tribute into the J-Lo show.

Lopez continued, while getting emotional, "Any type of music can inspire any type of artist ..." But when the show announced that Jennifer Lopez would be included in the performance, people weren't quite sure what was going to go down. They were then joined by host Alicia Keys who helped her sing "Papa Was A Rolling Stone".

"There are SO many Motown artists who are alive and well, so why aren't these artists performing in the Motown tribute?" one viewer asked.

Additionally, Lopez discussed her involvement with the show, noting Grammy producers and Motown's founder Berry Gordy were "thrilled" with her doing the show.

Her performance comes days ahead of Motown's tribute concert to celebrate the label's 60th anniversary.

'Any type of music can inspire any type of artist. This was the definition of self determination. Many saw it as an opportunity for Lopez to step aside and give someone else a chance to have the spotlight.
