Ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham underwent an emergency open heart surgery last week, his wife Kristen Buckingham confirmed in a statement Friday. He is now recuperating at home and... "While it is unclear if this damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not", she continues.

Fleetwood Mac fired Buckingham from the band last spring, replacing him with Neil Finn and Mike Campbell, formerly of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.

Get well soon, Lindsey!

"This past year has been a very stressful and hard year for our family to say the least", Kristen Buckingham continues in the statement.

The 69-year-old guitarist has a family history of heart-related problems that claimed the lives of his father and brother, said his wife, who accompanied the update with a hospital photo of the rocker. We feel so fortunate he's alive.

Greek parliament approves protocol for Macedonia to join North Atlantic Treaty Organisation
Macedonia's admission to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was approved by a slim majority of MPs in the 300-seat parliament. It says the alliance is undermining security in the region by taking in Balkan members.

Kristen went on to encourage Fleetwood Mac fans to seek preventative care if you have any symptoms or a familial risk of heart disease. It's with great relief and thankful hearts that we report the surgery was successful in its objective.

Fleetwood Mac disputes the allegations made by Buckingham. In October, he sued the band members for the $12 million he lost in Fleetwood Mac's upcoming tour.

In December he announced the two sides had come to a settlement out of court.

"We are saddened by this news", the group tweeted. Our thoughts and love go out to Lindsey and his entire family.
