Their involvement in the case started Thursday, as they searched for the 12-year-old girl, who had run away from home, police spokesman Don Aaron said.

Yorlets was able to make it inside his house after the shooting, where his roommate found him.

He was a member of a local band, Carverton, and the band's manager said that "he was loved by his friends and family". The group was arrested at a Walmart in West Nashville, hours after police reported finding their suspected getaway truck, which was reported stolen from Oak Grove, Kentucky on Wednesday.

It is believed he was shot after he refused to give up his vehicle. "We will never forget Kyle, and though he is gone too soon his legacy is here to stay". He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, investigators said.

The minors accosted the man, took his wallet and demanded the keys to his auto, which he refused to hand over, prompting the suspects to open fire on him, police stated.

Police say the five kids allegedly confronted the Belmont University graduate outside his home on Thursday.

A 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy are also charged in the murder, but because of Tennessee law can't be identified due to their age, WZTV says.

All five suspects will be charged with criminal homicide, police say.

"On February 7, 2019 we lost our brother, best friend and bandmate Kyle Yorkets", Carverton posted.

According to investigators, the teens were in a stolen red pickup truck when they spotted Yorlets outside.

Carverton said in a statement that they were shocked and heartbroken by the news.

Another loaded and stolen gun that the juveniles allegedly hid in one of the aisles inside the department store was found.

Investigators found Snapchat photos of the girl in a vehicle with other young people and guns, Aaron said, according to the Tennessean.

All five suspects are being held at a juvenile detention center.

Yorlets was one of four children raised on a farm in Pennsylvania. In Nashville, he worked at the Mike and Honey and Pastaria restaurants.
