Samsung Unveils ‘The Wall’ — a Massive 219-inch TV

The TV's shown at the event were bigger and more innovative than ever before, and hence are likely to come with an expensive price tag.

At this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled a 219-inch television as part of a demonstration. So far most programming isn't offered at such a high resolution. Called the LG Signature OLED TV R, the TV is expected to go on sale later this year.

The television has 8K resolution, which has four times the linear resolution as full HD.

The South Korean company already has 146-inch version of The Wall, which Samsung unveiled past year at the tech show.

Sony's Master Series Z9G doesn't care though - seeing as it has an advanced machine learning algorithm for upscaling to 8K, and the hefty X1 Ultimate processor to power it. You may be watching this newscast right now on a 4K television, but pretty soon you'll want one of these 8K TVs. The Hisense 75U9F is a 75-inch Quantum Dot screen with Android TV, 1,000 local dimming zones and a peak brightness of 2,200 nits. The other notable TV manufacturers also had their 8K TVs on display.

The US prevailed in selecting its preferred candidate over challengers from Nigeria and Colombia, but the process was grueling. The Treasury Department told AFP on Friday that it had no comment in potential candidates.
