Hart was announced as the host of the 2019 Oscars in December.

Variety reports the show producers will select various celebrities to introduce different segments of the awards ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 24 instead of a traditional host. Though, coincidentally, changes had already been in the works to de-emphasize a single host this year anyway, even before the Academy found itself in this position. These sketches will, one can assume, riff off music-driven films including Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star Is Born, as well as top contenders for nominations like Mary Poppins Returns, Vice, The Favourite, and (fingers crossed here) Black Panther. He later apologized for the remarks before stepping down as host, and went on to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week, where he was urged by the daytime talk show host to reconsider.

During the terse 10-minute interview, Hart repeatedly responded to questions about the homophobic tweets and jokes he made between 2009 and 2012 by saying: "I'm done".

Kevin Hart is done talking about the controversy.

"You will not hear me say anything else about it", he insisted during his GMA interview. "I apologize", he said on the show.

"I'm not hosting the Oscars this year", Hart told Strahan.

"Stop looking for reasons to be negative..." I'm riding with you guys. "I'm not saying I've changed anymore".

"I say I'm done with it". "No desire to. I would never want to do it".

"So unfortunately I can't do it this year". "I live to Love...." Please.... What's understood should never have to be said. "I love to love - if you don't see that, then that means it's a problem with you... Have a handsome day".

Later that day, Hart quit ― and apologized for the homophobic tweets.

'I think they're working on finding someone that's gonna be great, ' Awkwafina added on the red carpet. I want everybody to know I'm done with it. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart.

"Regardless, Academy, I'm thankful and appreciative of the opportunity. I hope we can meet again". Hart seemed taken aback by the news, and said that he'd keep an open mind about hosting.

Episode 180 talks about Trump, Talib, Warren, and the huge controversy over comedian Kevin Hart (above) and the Oscars. "That's why I said, for the last time, I'm addressing this. I sincerely apologise to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past". I shouldn't have to prove who I am. "I'm not that guy".

That came after she informed him that organisers had told her they would be "thrilled" if he got back on board. Whatever we can do we would be thrilled. Everyone from Seth MacFarlane to Bill Crystal to Jon Stewart has hosted the event, but rumors circulated this year that producers behind the event struggled to find someone willing to take the job.

Lemon defended Hart choosing not to align himself with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transsexual individuals. "You're not getting no more of my energy from it". You have grown, you have apologized, you are apologizing again right now. "So if people choose to continue to let it grow, then do what you got to do".
