Love them, hate them but you can't just ignore their stellar performance in The Accidental Prime Minister as per Twitterati, who are lauding Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna ever since the movie released today.
Hearing a complaint alleging that the movie presents former prime minister Manmohan Singh and several other public figures in a "bad light", the sub-divisional judicial magistrate's court in Muzaffarpur directed the Kanti police station to lodge an FIR. The film released on 11 January 2019, seeking much more attention after coming to the news of the controversies happening. In the film, Anupam Kher is seen essaying the role of Dr. Manmohan Singh while Akshaye Khanna is seen playing the role of Baru.
The high court had disposed of the writ petition against the trailer but left it open for the petitioner to file a public interest litigation (PIL).

In the appeal filed in the top court, petitioner Pooja Mahajan has sought stay on exhibition of trailer of the film on YouTube and to suspend the release and exhibition of the movie during pendency of the matter.
The petitioner had alleged in the high court that provisions of the Cinematograph Act were being misused and the film producer has released the trailer affecting the image of the office of the prime minister and giving a bad name to it at the national and worldwide level.
"Those who are indulging in politics before the elections by making such a movie should also watch another movie titled as Disastrous Prime Minister".
The plea also alleged that if the film will be released, friendly relations with the USA and other foreign states were likely to be affected. Ojha claimed that the film's trailer had hurt his sentiments. The best part is that it shows the human side of Manmohan Singh though not to a great deal.
