Hulk Hogan returned to Monday Night RAW to honor the late, great "Mean" Gene Okerlund.

Okerlund rose to prominence interviewing stars including Hogan, among others.

In a Twitter post Tuesday night, Hogan called "Mean" Gene "the best partner I ever had" while describing their incredible off-the-cuff chemistry during their backstage interviews. "Growing up like you guys said in the mid-80s I was in high school and college watching him do his thing and I would imitate Mean Gene with any microphone I could find". Although it's hard to argue that the Hulkster's appearance is entirely appropriate for the occasion, cynics will again note that WWE have leveraged the situation to usher Hogan back onto screens during circumstances which won't draw complaint. The organization even reinstated him into their Hall of Fame after a suspension.

Only one word to say, I'm proud. 'You can see that hunger and that passion to win for India . 'They take ownership of their skills.

"WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (a.k.a. Hulk Hogan)", the company said in a statement in 2015. Four months later, he made his official WWE return for the first time since being fired when he served as the host for the promotion's controversial Crown Jewel pay-per-view show in Saudi Arabia.

A number of years ago, Hogan was suspended from the WWE Hall of Fame as a result of racist and hateful comments made towards black people.

But Hogan's relationship to the company has warmed over the previous year, and he was reinstated to the Hall of Fame and served as host for the WWE's Crown Jewel pay-per-view last November in Saudi Arabia.

"I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs".
