Piers Morgan joined other meat eaters in criticizing Greggs, even calling the bakery chain "PC-ravaged clowns".

Meanwhile, Dundee's vegans begged to differ, with one passionate advocate of the plant-based lifestyle penning a letter to Greggs.

A list on the Greggs site says the only stores which supply sausage rolls in Kent were Farthing Corner Moto Services near Gillingham between at junction 4 and 5 on the M2 and MRH Cobham services, off the A2 near Gravesend.

A vegan activist tweeted: "Apparently vegans are easily triggered but have you seen the uproar from Greggs selling a vegan sausage roll, like bloody hell we're the precious ones????"
