It's a first-person shooter with clear RPG elements set in a dystopian universe where massive corporations with names like Spacer's Choice and Auntie Cleo's have taken over entire planets. In the years since, it's been rumored that Obsidian might release a New Vegas follow-up (New Orleans has been a frequently-rumored location for that apparently non-existent game), but despite all that rumormongering, nothing's happened.
This is the first trailer for The Outer Worlds, a brand-new first-person RPG from Obsidian and Private Division. Set in a quirky sci-fi universe filled to the brim with humor, attractive vistas, and unsafe aliens, the game manages to blend elements of Fallout, Mass Effect, and even Bioshock into one package.
Like nearly all the titles shown at The Game Awards, The Outer Worlds is due out next year - although there's no indication of exactly when.
Aston Martin Works Create First Reversible EV Powertrain Concept
Aston Martin says the cassette is a "self-contained cell" that sits on the original engine and transmission mounts. First to be equipped with the new "cassette" electric powertrain is a 1970 DB6 MkII Volante , the company said.
With a retro-sci-fi vibe and a wonderful Western colour palette, The Outer Worlds looks to continue Obsidian's strong tradition of delivering dense RPGs. Throughout the game, as players fight different monsters and make their way through various non-combat encounters, they can choose to take "Flaws", which hinder their character in some way while providing an extra perk point immediately. In case you weren't aware, The Outer Worlds comes from the original creators of Fallout, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky.
Geoff Keighley and Obsidian teased the game's announcement last week with the tagline, "Worlds Will Change".
