Epic Games Store Rocked at Its The Game Awards 2018 Debut

‘Hades’ Is The Latest Isometric Action Game From Supergiant

Supergiant Games Announces Hades, Available Now In Early Access On The Epic Games Store

If they can persuade those triple-A publishers who haven't yet begun publishing PC titles on their own stores, like Electronic Arts, Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft and Microsoft, then the outlook for Steam may be worse than anyone could have imagined just a short while ago.

Epic is giving all developers on the Epic Games Store an 88 percent share of the revenue. After that, it's Super Meat Boy from December 28th to January 10th. That's why Epic Games is making them an offer they might not be able to refuse. The only types of games it would restrict would be those featuring "adult-only" content. Game pages lack information about recent updates, supported game modes, or hardware other than minimum and recommended PC requirements.

Overseen by Wizards of the Coast, which created the game, these will let players of the physical card game and its PC equivalent compete for a slice of a $10m (£7.8m) prize pot. Even with its generous revenue split for developers, competing with Steam is going to be an uphill battle for Epic Games. These include Journey which before now had been a Sony PlayStation exclusive.

Grace Millane: 'Concern grows' for backpacker missing in New Zealand
Grace Millane , who is from Essex, has been reported missing by her family, who say they have not heard from her in almost a week. The family put the call out there because they were anxious for her safety and wanted "to make sure she's alright".

Epic said it aimed to differentiate itself from Steam by only taking a 12% commission on sales. That's regardless of how much their game sells, or how big the studio is. What's more important, though, is that developers and gamers alike have only to gain from the situation.

"Exactly how that pans out in the long term remains to be seen, but this is a promising start", he added.

During The Game Awards 2018, the Epic Games Store officially launched and while the selection of games on the service is limited at the moment, there's a good mix of games available right now and plenty more to come down the line. It is believed to have about 125 million registered users. The two games are fairly popular and have been well received.
