THE BAND'S VISIT, CAROUSEL & More Nominated for 2019 GRAMMY AWARDS

Rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar lead this year's nominations in the biggest four categories, which generally refer to record of the year, song of the year, album of the year and best new artist. She will go up against fellow nominees Cardi B and Janelle Monae in the Album of the Year category.

Cardi's Invasion of Privacy and Scott's AstroWorld are up against Mac Miller's Swimming, Pusha T's Daytona, and Nipsey Hussle's Victory Lap.

With 84 Grammy Award categories, each year's list of nominations can be counted on to deliver a number of surprises for the music industry.

Thanks to the hit "Black Panther" film Lamar - whose album "DAMN" won the Pulitzer Prize for music this year - once again has a chance to win the coveted Album of the Year prize after three prior losses.

Who's Presenting?: Last year's Best New Artist victor, Alessia Cara, will join Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monae and Apple Music host Zane Lowe to announce the nominees in select categories.

But last year's Grammy snub of bilingual mega-hit "Despacito" in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories has critics skeptical that a non-English track, no matter how popular, can score a major award.
