While all the teams are preparing themselves for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, the Delhi franchise has taken a big step by changing their team name. Co-owned by JSW Sports and GMR Group, the "Daredevils", one of the original IPL teams from 2008, have not been able to win a single title in 11 editions of the league.
Kiran Kumar Gandhi, CEO and MD at GMR Infrastructure, said, "We're sure this exciting partnership is going to do good for Delhi's IPL Team this season". The franchise announced the news while unveiling their new name. In the United States, there is an ice hockey team called Washington Capitals, which plays in the National Hockey League. "We wanted this name to mean something to each and everyone from Delhi", said JSW Sports' Director Parth Jindal during the update.
Mohammed Kaif, who is appointed as the assistant coach of Delhi Capitals was also present at the occasion. Pravin Amre would be in-charge of talent scouting.

They have released them into the auction pool alongside Glenn Maxwell, Mohammad Shami and Jason Roy as well. They have made the trading with Sunrisers Hyderabad to grab the services of Shikhar Dhawan as well.
The team boasts of a battery of young Indian stars which include captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw. They finished at the bottom of the table in IPL 2018.
