The regal family is expected to attend the morning service on Christmas Day in Sandringham, as they did previous year. The family usually switch it up and spend one year with William's family and the next with Kate's.

Right now, multiple sources have confirmed to Vanity Fair's royal correspondent Katie Nicholl that Meghan and Harry are looking at "options".

And with rumours of a rift brewing between Meghan and Harry's brother and sister and law, Prince William and Kate Middleton, it could be shaping up to be a dramatic festive period.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted leaving the church by a side door, before climbing into a waiting auto.

The Christmas trees at the Palace were grown in the grounds of the Queen's other royal residence, Windsor Castle.

Since their wedding in 2011, William and Middleton have alternated spending Christmas between their families.

A friend of the Duchess of Sussex told the Evening Standard that Meghan "had a long private audience with Michelle" after Obama gave a sold-out speech at the Royal Festival Hall.

"So my biggest piece of advice would be to take some time and don't be in a hurry to do anything", the 54-year-old told the publication. In-laws are not typically invited to the royals' Christmas celebrations.
