Except it's more than just a four-door Wrangler with an open bed-much more. We've already seen the first official photos of the Gladiator two weeks ago when the first specs also got leaked.
Given the vehicle is due to head into U.S. dealerships in second quarter of 2019, we'd hazard to guess it will arrive on Australian shores either late 2019 or early 2020.
In the United States, the Gladiator will go on sale in the first half of 2020. The control arms are located under the frame rails, and the rear shocks are forward facing for more consistent damping, Jeep says. It's based on the Wrangler SUV and was created to do anything it can do.
The Gladiator is the first Jeep pick-up since the Commanche was dropped in 1992. The Gladiator pick-up is 787mm longer than the four-door Wrangler and, in Crew Cab configuration, features a 1,524mm load bay.
The brand also says the Gladiator is capable of safely fording up to 76.2 centimetres (30 inches) of water. But the second-row seats are exclusive to the pickup, with seat bottoms that fold up to expose a storage compartment with an optional lock, and a seat back that can lock in place for additional secure storage.
The 152cm steel tray is capable of taking a 725kg payload, and not only incorporates tie-down points but also a covered 400-watt power outlet and integrated lighting. The spare tire has been moved underneath, and there's room for aftermarket 37-inch tires, if you want to replace the factory 35s.
Revealed overnight at the Los Angeles motor show, the Gladiator sits on a stretched version of the Wrangler's rugged ladder chassis and five-link suspension. It surely will handle hauling extra gear on your next Moab expedition. There's the new rear seats which can be folded upwards to reveal a hidden storage bin that can hold several items. Now, however, we've got a lot more to see and read.
The Gladiator is a Jeep Wrangler four-door-up until its rear seatbacks.
Inside, the Gladiator Overland version's instrument panel features a soft-touch surface with accent stitching (also available as an option in the Rubicon). But it's more than that, blending much of the beloved SUV with some unique features for the pickup truck. But even parked side-by-side, it's hard to distinguish the Gladiator's grille from the Wrangler's.
Under its hood clips, the Gladiator will be powered by either the standard 285-hp 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 gas engine or - beginning in 2020 - an optional 260-hp 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V-6 diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or optional eight-speed automatic.
"Unquestionably a truck and instantly recognizable as a Jeep, the all-new 2020 Gladiator is the ultimate vehicle for any outdoor adventure", said Tim Kuniskis, head of Jeep North America at the unveiling in LA. It will be available only with a six-speed automatic.

Those who don't want us to leave the European Union without a deal need to consider that this would increase the chance of that'. That is actually a betrayal of the British people".
