Spire now boasts one of the largest constellations of privately owned satellites in the world and has more than 30 ground stations worldwide.
AWS Ground Station will build a network of 12 satellite facilities around the world to make data transfers from space cheaper and easier. This covers AWS' GovCloud and Secret Regions across almost every data classification.

AWS Global Accelerator, available today, uses AWS' global network backbone to direct traffic from users to application endpoints across AWS regions. The cloud juggernaut said the new AWS RoboMaker service works on top of the open-source robotics middleware Robot Operating System, and extends the framework with connectivity to AWS services for machine learning, monitoring, and analytics.
One of the use cases highlighted for the new satellite service was for when natural disasters strike.
AWS said it can use this data to track and protect endangered animals.
Customers can easily request Lockheed Martin Verge as their preferred downlink directly through the AWS Ground Station console or from the Verge management console.
Lockheed Martin's Verge, or Virtual Resilient Ground, is a cloud-based service for satellite ground control, using a compact, low cost antenna network.
The service has been created to assist developers in the development, testing and deployment of robotics applications, offering intelligent robotics build functions via cloud services. Lockheed Martin's satellite receiver is the size of a shoebox, and lets customers have them in multiple locations, to download satellite data whenever required.
