New Royal Family photos released to mark Prince Charles' 70th birthday

In a toast to celebrate the Prince's 70th birthday, the Queen has delivered a fond, heartfelt tribute to her son: an "heir to the throne to stand comparison with any in history" and, she joked, a true "Duchy Original".

It's the second time George, Charlotte and Louis have been pictured together since the youngest royal was born and it's easy to see the family resemblance between them.

Other royals who attended the glitzy bash included Charles' sons Prince William and Prince Harry, with their wives Kate and Meghan.

Since the now seven month old has not been seen since his christening back in July, fans of the Royal family were really eager for new pics of the rapidly growing baby to be released by the Palace.

In this early 1950s photo, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth are seen with their eldest children - Prince Charles, shown at left, and Princess Anne, shown at right.

In true royal style, a royal gun salute was sacked at Cardiff Castle, Wales, for the milestone birthday of the Prince of Wales, as well as at Tower Bridge, and a 41-gun salute sounded out from Green Park in London.
