The Lancashire police said in a tweet on Tuesday (Nov 13) that following an appeal for information "for a man who resembles a well-known actor" and with the help of the Metropolitan police, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Southall, a suburban district in London, a day earlier. The Lancashire department made a special note of thanking Friends' actor David Schwimmer for his support. "To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation", he wrote below a video of him getting beer from a grocery store, a la the British suspect.

Today, Lancashire Police posted an update on the investigation into the alleged theft in the town on 20 September.

United Kingdom police have made an arrest in an alleged beer theft that made worldwide headlines last month because the suspect looked so much like Ross from Friends.
