"Things was just starting to heat up for me".

The three-time Pro Bowl receiver hasn't played in an National Football League game since Week 17 of last season.

The Saints wide receiver, who reportedly tore his Achilles tendon while running a routine route during practice, seemingly confirmed the bad news on Twitter. "He's getting an MRI now". But news broke earlier this week that Dez agreed to a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.

Bryant, who has been unemployed since being cut by the Cowboys April 13, joined the Saints on Wednesday after agreeing to a one-year, $600,000 deal.

Some 70,000 people in the United States died from flu last season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Even healthy people can become sick enough to miss work or school for a significant amount of time, or even be hospitalized.

The team is already looking at replacement wideouts - including Brandon Marshall - according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This is a potential huge disappointment for Bryant who was not only excited to join a possible Super Bowl team but looking forward to a homecoming on November 29 when the Saints played the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

The New Orleans Saints chapter of Dez Bryant's career could very well be over before it even had the chance to begin.

Last season was Bryant's best since he caught 88 passes for 1,320 yards and 16 TDs in 2014, which at the time was his third consecutive season with at least 1,200 yards receiving.
