Meghan eventually wore a tiara with platinum and diamond which was designed by Queen Mary, the current queen's grandmother.
The matriarch told her grandson, 34, the "difficult" Duchess of Sussex could not wear a tiara she had her "heart set on" for her wedding day, because of concerns the green emeralds "could have come from Russia".
The royal insider however said the Queen wasn't having a bar of it and told Harry "she gets what tiara she's given by me".
The alleged altercation was the result of the Queen wanting Meghan to think about how she speaks to staff members and be careful to follow family protocols, the insider states.
