In an emergency court hearing on Friday afternoon, state Judge Carol-Lisa Phillips ruled there has "been a violation of the Florida constitution", as well as the state's public records act, by not turning over requested records.

Chaos erupted outside at the Broward Supervisor of Elections office in Lauderhill when an impromptu protest appeared ahead of Friday's canvassing board review of 200 provisional ballots. Scott accused Nelson of bringing in an attorney to "try to steal the election and try to thwart the will of the voters of Florida".

Three days after the election, Broward County says ballots are still being counted, despite many other counties being able to finish very soon after election day.

Scott's showing in the Keys contrasts with other Republicans running for statewide office in Monroe County, where, outside of heavily progressive Key West, tends to vote solid red. In 2016 alone, 27,700 vote-by-mail ballots were rejected. He said they checked with the Department of State for any fraud claims against her and there were none. The majority of uncounted votes are in Palm Beach and Broward County, which are traditionally democratic strongholds.

Broward Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes said she didn't know how many ballots remain to be counted, but all were being processed.

Scott carried a larger lead Tuesday night, but continues to see it dissipate as more votes come in.

This led Andrew Gillum to reply to the President, "What's embarrassing to democracy is not counting every vote - and you, of course". The race has tightened since Gillum conceded Tuesday night to Republican Ron DeSantis. On Friday, he led by 0.21 percentage point, low enough to require a recount.
