Soccer star found dead 'almost beheaded with his genitals severed'

Daniel Correa, aged 24, was found dead after he was decapitated, with his genitals cut off and thrown into a bush.

Daniel Correa Freitas was reportedly found almost beheaded on a road where criminals usually dump corpses.

The Brazilian newspaper Band B, reported that Daniel Correa Freitas, 24, had been a victim of "torture" and said there had been two deep cuts in his neck which almost beheaded him, according to the New Zealand Herald.

"The club sympathises and pays condolences to the athlete's family".

Police have reportedly not released the exact cause of death yet.

"The man had two deep cuts in the neck, his head was nearly decapitated and his genitals were cut".

Confirming Correa's death, Sao Paulo issued a statement stating that the footballer was "found dead this weekend".

"Everything indicates the man was executed here on the street and dragged for about 30 metres".

The 24-year-old Sao Paulo star joined second-division side Sao Bento on a loan deal in 2018 and was only able to make two appearances with the club.
