Raiders acquire first-round selection, trade wide receiver Amari Cooper

The Cowboys Massively Overpaid for Amari Cooper

The Raiders and Cowboys have agreed on a trade that will send Amari Cooper to the Cowboys for a first-round pick, ESPN.com reports. Dallas is now 29th in yards per game.

The Cowboys gave up their top pick in the next draft in hopes of giving quarterback Dak Prescott another weapon just a few months after releasing franchise touchdown catch leader Dez Bryant in a cost-cutting move. What makes that number even more alarming was the fact he had over 100 yards in only two games and much of his statistical output was due to an 11/210/2 game he had against the Chiefs in early October previous year. But Cooper was a Pro Bowler in each of his first two seasons with the Raiders, eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards both years. The Cowboys are a game and a half back of Washington in the NFC East after losing in miserable fashion on Sunday in D.C., and if this trade doesn't turn things around for them offensively it could look really bad. He was 47th in the National Football League in receptions before the Redskins game.

Based on what they gave up for Cooper in comparison to what other teams gave up for wide receivers in recent deals, the Cowboys may have overpaid.

New clues from 911 call emerge in case of missing Wisconsin girl
Fitzgerald said Saturday that under an Amber Alert, a person does not have to be considered abducted. Authorities at the home of James and Denise Closs, found dead on Monday in Barron, Wisconsin.

The Cowboys later signed him to a $54 million contract extension.

Cooper is entering his fifth-year option next season.

It ended up being the worst trade in team history as Williams caught just 94 passes for 1,324 yards and 13 touchdowns in 40 games with the Cowboys. He suffered the injury last week in Oakland's loss to Seattle in London.
