Sheriff: Jayme Closs' parents victims of homicide; no gun found

Community holds vigil for girl missing from home after parents found dead

Missing Wisconsin teen, 13, is in danger, not a runaway, cops say, as search intensifies after parents killed

Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald of the Barron County Sheriff's Office said at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that the results of the autopsies on 56-year-old James Closs and 46-year-old Denise Closs were released earlier on Wednesday. Investigators have been searching for 13-year-old Jayme Closs since deputies responding to a 911 call early Monday found her parents dead in their home in Barron.

Fitzgerald said during an afternoon news conference Wednesday that he doesn't know the motive behind the killings, and again pleaded for the public's help in reporting tips or leads that may help investigators find Jayme. "There was no gun found on the scene and we believe Jayme was home based on the evidence in our case - some of it from that 911 call".

Barron County's Sheriff says there is no credible information from a possible sighting of a missing and endangered Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs in Florida.

Barron Area School District administrator Diane Tremblay said Jayme, a member of her school's cross-country team, is a "sweet girl who is a loyal friend and loves to dance".

FacebookJayme Closs, a 13-year-old girl from Barron, Wisconsin, is missing. He also dismissed the idea Jayme had run away from her home in Barron, located about 80 miles northeast of Minneapolis.

Joan Smrekar, who lives next door to the Closs home, told Banfield she heard two shots just after 12:30 a.m. Monday a couple of seconds apart. It may have been the last time Jayme was seen. "If there is something that this community can do, I guarantee you that you'll see, nearly everyone from this town, from the surrounding towns, doing everything they can to help", said Chris Kroeze.
