Djokovic wins Shanghai Masters

Novak Djokovic says it's difficult even for him to be always healthy

Novak Djokovic upstages opponent Borna Coric by speaking perfect Mandarin in Shanghai

October 13, 2018- Roger Federer meekly surrenders his Shanghai title in the semi finals, losing to Next-Gen star Borna Coric, in straight sets, continuing a wretched run of form (by his standards) with a 39-7 record.

And following this latest win, Djokovic watched as Coric apologised to the crowd for not being able to speak their native language before stepping up to the microphone and reeling off ideal Chinese in his acceptance speech.

The Serb did not drop a single service game in the entire tournament-such was his dominance.

"I could not ask for a better scenario", Djokovic said. It's all very, very positive, for more than 10 years that I have been coming to China.

During the week in China's commercial capital city, the expected Djokovic/Federer finals did not materialize after the top seeded players had been beaten in earlier rounds.

Coric then recovered from 3-0 down in the second set to earn a break point at 3-2 before saving three championship points to break Djokovic and make it 5-4.

But he made a slow start against Coric, ranked 19 in the world, getting broken in the first game. "I was playing good, really, I was really happy how I played", he said.

Israel prepares to reopen Syrian border
That could soon change, Heller told Syria Direct, even if cross-border ties resume "not necessarily on totally friendly terms". Syria's Interior Minister Mohammed al-Shaar also confirmed the crossing's reopening, according to Syria's state news agency.

"I thought he was better, I think he had more punch on the ball". Coric also beat Roger Federer in June for the Gerry Weber Open title in Halle.

Juan Martin del Potro, meanwhile, has fractured his right patella bone in what the Argentine called "a hard blow that leaves me without strength".

Novak Djokovic of Serbia added the Rolex Masters trophy to his haul this year, when he defeated Borna Coric of Croatia, 6/3; 6/4.

In what was the biggest match of his life, he wore heavy strapping on one thigh and has been troubled by a stiff neck that saw him ponder pulling out before the tournament.

Nadal will remain on top if the two players fall in the same round or if he goes deeper than the Serbian.

Ukrainian teenager Dayana Yastremska said on Sunday she was dreaming of a Grand Slam after she crushed Chinese number one Wang Qiang 6-2, 6-1 at the Hong Kong Open to claim her first ever title.
