Russian President Vladimir Putin met and congratulated Russia's Khabib Nurmagomedov on Wednesday after he retained his UFC lightweight title against Conor McGregor in a bout overshadowed by a post-fight brawl.
Khabib vs. McGregor has shattered all previous UFC pay-per-view records. Cameras then captured at least two of Nurmagomedov's teammates climbing into the cage to assault McGregor.
He added: "Why do you have to punish my team, when both teams fought?"
He went on: "We all understand that it was a provocation and I'm sure your father understands that too".
His teammate, Zubaira Tukhugov, was one of the fighters who attacked Conor McGregor after the fight in the early hours of Sunday morning. Additionally, Khabib told the UFC they can keep his $2 million UFC 229 payday, which is still being withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Once the fighter gets into the details about fellow fighter Zubaira Tukhugov, things get juicy.
In April, McGregor travelled from Dublin to Brooklyn to confront Nurmagomedov and his team, after footage emerged of them surrounding and intimidating the Irishman's team-mate Lobov in a hotel. But don't forget that it was Conor who had hit my another Brother FIRST, just check the video. if you decide to fire him, you should know that you'll lose me too.

So how can you do nothing about McGregor's misbehavior, then take such an opposite stance when it's Nurmagomedov and his team causing all the trouble? "You canceled Zubaira's fight and you want to dismiss him just because he hit Conor".
He then vowed to quit if his brother was sacked, and explained that he didn't care about whether or not he was paid: "If you decide to fire him, you should know that you'll lose me too".
"You are pretty busy with that, I hope it won't get stuck in your throat", Nurmagomedov said.
"You can do whatever you want in the octagon; outside of it, there's children, women, random people", Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov said.
Nurmagomedov expressed no remorse, telling Putin he responded to "disrespect" and "provocations" from his opponent and that he hoped to be vindicated.
"We have defended our honour and this is the most important thing". Three of the Russian's team were arrested and later released. Putin defended the fighter's actions in the brawl that followed his victory over Conor McGregor.
