Goldman Sachs downgraded AMC to a sell from a neutral rating late last week, and yesterday the stock fell more than 7% after the premiere numbers were released. Those numbers are down 50% and 45% from last year's season premiere numbers of a 5.0 demo rating and 11.44 million viewers. Morris retains his neutral rating on the company. The previous low number belonged to the 2010 series premiere, which stood with a 2.7 rating. The Season 9 premiere was also down approximately 50% in the key demo and 47% in total viewers compared to the Season 8 opener, which drew a 5.0 and 11.4 million viewers past year.
Check out our review of the Season 9 premiere of The Walking Dead, which we called "Great" saying, "Thankfully, for now, the story seems to have taken a few steps back from the outright conspiracy and rebellion that was being cooked up at the end of Season 8; opting instead for a more subtle and believable build in hostilities".
It's not clear how many members of the Walking Dead's team will be brought on at Skybound, but with 400 miles between the two developers - Telltale is located in San Rafael, CA, while Skybound is in Los Angeles, CA - that will still result in a move for anyone who does make the leap over to the new developer. AMC also notes it had a record day of sign-ups for its AMC Premiere service, which lets subscribers watch the premiere a day early and without ads.
Project xCloud: Microsoft revealed the future of gaming
The system is being tested on mobile devices via touch input and with a Xbox Wireless Controller connected via Bluetooth. It could be a while before we hear more about when we can get our hands on Project xCloud and test it out for ourselves.
Weeks after Telltale Games announced it would be laying off a majority of its staff, another studio has revealed that it will be finishing the final season of Telltale's The Walking Dead adventure game series.
The Season Nine premiere will likely see a significant boost in numbers when DVR and on-demand viewings are included in Live+3 ratings. Hopefully, because that's a real new beginning.
