Windies recall Pollard, Bravo for T20Is vs India; Gayle declines selection

India make history with crushing victory against West Indies by an innings and 272 runs

India v West Indies: Hosts win first Test by innings and 272 runs

Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo have returned to the worldwide fold after being named in a separate 15-man squad for the India T20I series.

Kieron Pollard was only included for the T20I leg of the tour, which also features five ODI games, while Chris Gayle made himself unavailable as he is now playing in the Afghanistan Premier League and then the Abu Dhabi T10 after that. "The (benefit of the) Super50 now from the selectors' point of view will be to look at players who aren't in India and who don't perform in India to (then) shuffle the pack for (the) Bangladesh (tour)".

While India was on song, a largely inexperienced West Indies squad was depleted with the absence of captain Jason Holder and seasoned pacer Kemar Roach.

Johnny Grave, Chief Executive Officer of the Windies, also explained the reason behind announcing the squad so early, saying they had to arrange for travel and visas. Spinner Sunil Narine also remains on the sidelines for now. Some new faces like Chandrapaul Hemraj, Fabian Allen, Oshane Thomas who excelled in the last CPL edition have been included in the squad considering ICC Word T20 in 2020.

Showing a penchant for counter-attack, Chase struck four fours - mostly lofted hits down the ground - in a breezy 38-ball knock while Dowrich was more watchful in his 35-ball innings.

Unai Emery happy with Arsenal's 'confident' game at Fulham
But now it appears boss Unai Emery has steadied the ship and moved them only two points off the top of the league. Andre Schurrle's equalizer before half time was the only goal scored by Fulham in the entertaining fixture.

"The team will have a camp before the start of the ODI series in Guwahati, so we had to select the squad before the start of the Super50 Cup, in order to organize flights and visas". Against Trinbago Knight Riders - and Dwayne Bravo - he was particularly brutal, smashing 45 off 13 balls.

Powell added 47 runs for the second wicket with Shai Hope (17) and later another 41 runs with Chase (20) for the fifth wicket.

"The T20 squad should reflect the best possible pool of players from CPL performances", he said. Explosive batsman Gayle made himself unavailable for selection revealed Courtney Browne, Chairman of the Selection Panel, while adding he is ready to be picked for home series against England and World Cup next year.

Alongside these two senior members, Windies have opted to give opportunities to some of the youngsters, keeping in mind that the next World T20 is still about two years away.
