Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Conor McGregor on their boxing match a year ago.

Mayweather even invited McGregor to train at his gym instead of UFC facilities ahead of the Las Vegas fight. McGregor will have an opportunity to claim the UFC lightweight championship against Nurmagomedov.

The Crumlin native has not fought since his controversial bout with Mayweather in August 2017 and does not appear to want to put their old rivalry aside just yet.

While McGregor dismissed the idea of pitching his tent at Mayweather's gym, the undefeated boxer reminisced about their lucrative encounter 12 months ago. We've seen McGregor being submitted on the ground before, and in the same way that it only takes one punch to change a fight, it only takes one mistake to allow The Eagle to go for a submission. From what it seems like, Conor McGregor is shutting that whole notion down.

"I'll talk with Dana, I may talk with Conor to get some tickets", the American told TMZ Sports via MMA Fighting.

"F*** the Mayweathers, except Senior and Roger".

McGregor is now in camp training for his blockbuster fight against UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, taking place on 6 October in Las Vegas.

A lot of fans will suggest that The Irishman also won't be able to prepare for Khabib's grappling in response, which is what makes this such an interesting contest.

"From what I know, (Nurmagomedov is) a hell of a grappler, and he can wrestle", Mayweather said. "But, Conor McGregor, he's a tough competitor, like I said before Conor McGregor's not gonna back down from anyone, he's not scared, he's a warrior". "That's what the fans like to see".
