Alan Wake is being adapted for TV

Peter Calloway is now signed on to be the showrunner and writer of the series while Remedy's own Sam Lake is pegged to be an executive producer.

"Alan Wake was basically a TV series that was made into a game". Lake said there's now "no news" to share about an Alan Wake 2 game, even though he said making one would be "a dream" of his. Contradiction Films' Tomas Harlan says that Lake's involvement will be vital and stated, "We plan to work closely with Sam on our this show".

There's no doubt that there are legions of gamers who would love to see a followup to Remedy Entertainment's 2010 action-adventure release, Alan Wake, but the developer's CEO Tero Virtala has declared that development has yet to move forward on a sequel due to the IP's owner, Microsoft, not giving the go ahead. It was influenced by "The Twilight Zone, ' 'Secret Window, ' Hitchcock, 'Northern Exposure, ' a lot of US television". What follows is an increasingly surreal experience that seems to bring the plot from his last novel - which he has no memory of writing - to life.

"Definitely what we have mapped out is a longer thing than the first game and a sequel; there is more to it", Lake said. And while that may have been eight years ago, Alan Wake is reportedly making a return to the big screen-the big TV screen. "Alan Wake is a very central character, but we have other characters around him like [friend and agent Barry Wheeler] and his wife Alice and Sheriff Sarah Breaker and other characters there".

Currently, the plan is to shop the series around with Calloway's full pitch, and Harlan has said that he has found interest from some studios. "We feel this is a big universe to develop and explore in many ways".

Harlan stopped short of talking specifics on the Alan Wake TV show's plot or how it would relate to the existing games or now non-existent sequel. He also alluded to more characters from the game's universe would play a large part, but the story won't be in "lockstep" with the game.
