After presenting Camila Cabello with the award for "Video of the Year", the "Material Girl" singer voiced some words about how the now late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, swayed her journey in music. However her speech turned more into a long anecdote about herself with the underscore of Franklin's music helping the pop star's career. "She said while on an audition for a backup singing gig with a French disco producer she was asked to sing and chose "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", one of Franklin's signature tunes.
"I had no training or dreams of ever becoming a singer but I went for it", she continued. "R-E-S-P-E-C-T", she said in her presentation.
Her Madgesty took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a photo of herself posing with video of the year victor Camila Cabello, of whom she said she is "so proud".
"And just to clarify: I was asked to present video of the year by MTV!".
NVIDIA Announce the GeForce RTX 20 Series Launching in September
Although there's no onscreen readout, you can see where the game really stutters and slows down, the footage turns choppy. It was not at all feasible in 3D games, except it now is (on a somewhat simpler scale) using NVIDIA's new graphics cards.
She said: "Aretha Franklin changed my life". Instead of speaking about Aretha's influence on rock n' roll or a personal moment the two shared, Madonna spent over five minutes talking about herself, only bringing up Aretha as a footnote to her story.
She also wrote that she could never do Franklin justice with a tribute amid the noise and tinsel of an awards show. "Unfortunately most people have short attention spans, and are so quick to judge", she added, before honoring Franklin. "R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Long live the queen".
Madonna has hit back at critics who claimed her tribute to Aretha Franklin at Monday's VMAs was self-indulgent. My life is sweeter and better with you in it because you make me realize that every day the sky is not the limit - the universe is infinite, and so is what we can accomplish together with love and trust and understanding. Considering the tight restraints of a televised award show, Madonna says. At the Billboard Music Awards in 2016, many viewers were not impressed by her and Stevie Wonder's tribute to Prince, who died in April of that year. "@MTV our attractive black queen deserves better".
Then, during an audition as a backing dancer for a French disco performer, she made a decision to sing Franklin's (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.
Lopez, who has over 80 million records worldwide, according to MTV, is the first Latin artist to receive the award.
