Bama, Clemson lead AP preseason Top 25 poll

College football's "week zero" arrives later this week and, to celebrate the start of the 2018 season, The Associated Press released its first Top 25 offering of the campaign on Monday.

Ring up another milestone for coach Nick Saban's Tide dynasty.

Oklahoma opens the season September 1 at home against Florida Atlantic.

The Tide's always tough defense will have all new starters in the secondary, but defensive end Raekwon Davis and linebackers Mack Wilson and Dylan Moses are primed to be Alabama's next All-Americans. Once again, everybody is chasing Alabama.

Central Florida was the only team in the country to go undefeated last season and - you might have heard - the school chose to declare the Knights national champions because why not? The complaint has grown louder in the College Football Playoff era, when the selection committee alone determines who gets a title shot.

The AP preseason poll was released Monday, and the Big Ten accomplished something it hasn't in almost six decades of the preseason poll. In the CFP/BCS era (1998-present), 19 teams have had unbeaten seasons. The team checks in at No. 9 in the first coaches' poll of the 2018 season, which was released earlier in August.

Overall, Taylor showed an incredible blend of speed and power, rushing so well that he was named a First-Team selection within the conference. Boise State in 2007 was No. 24 in the preseason.
