After Aretha Franklin passed away Thursday at the age of 76 due to pancreatic cancer, Fox News posted a tribute to the singer but got their queens of soul confused. His tweet following the news of her passing was also criticized by Franklin fans for its insensitivity.
The 18-time Grammy Award victor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010, died at the age of 76 in her home in Detroit.
"For her time, the best singer, male or female", declares WBGO's Bob Porter, singling out her late-1960s and early '70s output as a pinnacle.
She performed at the inaugurations of presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, singing My Country 'Tis of Thee at the investiture of the country's first African-American head of state.
"She set the bar for black people", says one woman. "We sang at the White House and she was so sweet and she was so cute, and I was like, 'How are you a real person?' It's an honor to have met her".
But for the most part, she goes undetected.

"We became friends because she and her family moved to Detroit when I was eight years old", Robinson recalled.
"I knew "Respect" from Otis Redding, [but] when I heard her sing it, it was nearly like hearing a whole new song". That same year, Detroit named a street after her.
