In a story August 14 about Stevie Wonder and Rev. Jesse Jackson visiting Aretha Franklin at her home, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Jackson visited Franklin on Tuesday.

Franklin, 76, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but moved to Detroit before her fifth birthday when her father, the Rev. C. L. Franklin, became the pastor at New Bethel Baptist Church in 1946. Also, Reverend Jesse Jackson and her ex-husband, Glynn Turman, will be visiting later today.

But although friends have disclosed the I Say A Little Prayer singer has "been ill for a long time", her family remain hopeful she will pull through.

News from Franklin's camp concerning her health has been limited, but rumours began in March, when the singer cancelled two of her concerts in New Jersey. "I'll have more details as I'm allowed to release", Cassimy wrote on Twitter.

"When Dr. King was alive, several times she helped us make payroll", Jackson told the newspaper.

The news comes as Far Out Magazine reported that news that Franklin is receiving hospice support at her home in Detroit.

"I loved how she has an ability to touch people's heart with her music", Johannessen said. With his blessing, she went on to win 18 Grammy Awards and sold over 75 million records, making her one of the best-selling recording artists of all time.
