"But as I said before: nothing is closed until everything is closed".
At the close of the 3rd consecutive week of discussions in Washington, Guajardo said a deal was still possible by the end of the month.
The negotiations stalled due to Trump's favour for a sunset clause in USA trade agreements, requiring parties to renew them every five years.

But the USA side was sticking to a hard stance in the final stretch of the year-old NAFTA talks, trying to extract concessions as another late August deadline for a deal approaches, one industry representative said.
