Man United to appoint their first ever director of football

Man Utd transfer news Paul Scholes doesn't think his old club will challenge for the title

Paul Pogba's freaky "slow motion" run-up for his penalty may have come as a surprise to Manchester United fans at Old Trafford last night but a few may have remembered it's a technique he regularly uses - notably doing it in an FA Youth Cup quarter final away at Anfield as a 17-year old with a very different outcome.

However, a post on Pogba's Instagram account shortly after the game fuelled continuing speculation that he is still far from settled at Old Trafford.

United didn't sign a single player in the summer transfer window after July 3rd, and Mourinho spent a good chunk of the preseason complaining about not getting the support he desires in the transfer market.

A player that gets chosen and is happy, you always feel more comfortable than when he's not happy.

Paul Pogba has given a hint that he is unsettled at Manchester United by insisting: "there are things that I can not say, otherwise I will get fined".

"What do you mean being the real Pogba?".

After captaining United to an opening-day win over Leicester, Pogba admitted that he has had to bite his tongue when discussing his situation or risk being fined.

"There was no question that United would let Pogba go to Barcelona, I'm not sure they could afford him anyway".

The Frenchman was made captain for the Leicester match, with former captain Michael Carrick and coach Kieran McKenna the ones to tell Pogba of the decision. I always love the club. It's not just about having the armband.

United have never had a director of football before but it's a role that has worked quite well for arch-rivals Manchester City, who appointed Txiki Begiristain in 2012 to much acclaim.

"For me, it was a dream come true and wearing the armband, it's even more of an honour because of the past, the players who've worn it".

"I still enjoying playing football but like I said, when you are comfortable or confident and are good in the head, it's going to be easier".
