Sarri's Chelsea too good for Huddersfield

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho

Midfielder Jorginho joined Chelsea for £57m from Napoli this summer

The World Cup victor started his first game under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri against Huddersfield and proved to be the most unlikely goalscorer when he found the net 34 minutes into the trip to the John Smith Stadium with a bouncing side-foot volley with his weaker left peg. We made a mistake in our frontline that led to the second goal which can not happen.

The Blues' new star in the midfield is Jorginho, who came over to Chelsea with Sarri from Napoli.

It took us a while to get going, but once we did, Huddersfield didn't stand a chance. "We did it better in the second half, there was more space and time".

"My job is on the pitch, to improve my players", said Sarri.

Eyes were obviously on debutants Jorginho and Arrizabalaga and the pair gave excellent accounts of themselves, with the former scoring a cheeky penalty in the first half.

Also, Jorginho only misplaced four of his 66 attempted passes, recording an accuracy of 93.9% - the best of any player to start the match.

US Open champion Koepka and Schwartzel both missed putts on the last for 62s that would have equalled the lowest round in a major. Dustin Johnson led the group at 133 and was joined by Shane Lowry , who completed a 64 after the delay.

Barkley did not have a bad game against Huddersfield, but he did not make the most of one of the few competitive opportunities he may have to show his worth. Jorginho stepped up and cooly found the back of the net.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dropped all interest in signing Chelsea ace Eden Hazard. You can't do that against Chelsea because they will hurt you, and that's exactly what they did.

DF Marcos Alonso, 7 - Criticised by some supporters for lacking the wherewithal to play as a left-back in Sarri's system, Alonso did look laboured at times in defence.

With Eden Hazard not a guaranteed starter due to his involvement late into the World Cup, many Chelsea fans were hoping Callum Hudson-Odoi would feature in some part after his impressive pre-season. But, the youngster is surprisingly, not even in the matchday squad.

The Terriers, meanwhile, were probably buoyed by the fact that their survival last season was helped by the point they gained against the Blues in their penultimate game of the campaign.

One striker who will not be scoring goals for Chelsea this season is Michy Batshuayi, who has joined Valencia on a season-long loan.
