Wake Forest Assistant Basketball Coach Jamill Jones Charged With Assaulting Man Who Later Died

Malcolm Brogdon #15 of the Virginia Cavaliers bring the ball up court against Tyler Thornton #3 of the Duke Blue Devils during the championship game of the 2014 Men's ACC Basketball Tournament at Greensboro Coliseum on March 16, 2014 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

A former FGCU assistant coach was arrested Thursday in NY.

"The Jones family sends their deepest condolences and sympathies to the Szabo family".

Police say a college basketball coach threw a punch that killed a New York City tourist who knocked on his vehicle window thinking it was his Uber ride.

The man fell to the pavement and hit his head.

Wake Forest has not responded to the Daily News' request for comment. Szabo's brother said he thought Szabo may have mistaken an SUV for a cab, according to the New York Daily News.

Golfweek reports that the PGA of America's computers were hijacked during the practice rounds. As of Wednesday, the organization had not regained full access to the servers.

The man exited a white SUV and punched Szabo, leaving him bleeding on the ground, police said. He was taken off life support Tuesday afternoon. He will be missed but there is comfort knowing he will live on in the many lives he will save through organ donation with "Live On NY".

Wake Forest released a statement Thursday night saying, "We have just been made aware of this matter and we are gathering information".

According to Jones's bio at Wake Forest's sports website, he is a Philadelphia native who attended Arkansas Tech and began his basketball coaching career in Washington, D.C., with an AAU squad named Team Takeover.

Prior to coming to Wake Forest, Jones coached at Central Florida, VCU and Florida Gulf Coast.

It's unclear why Jones was in New York City over the weekend.

Jones turned himself in for the assault on Thursday morning.
