Now, it seems they have set their sights on Chelsea outcast Zouma.
L'Equipe says United are now in talks with Chelsea over a deal for Zouma.
Everton manager Marco Silva is hoping to land Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in a bid to solve his side's defensive lapses before his side's Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. After two years of gradual progress within the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge, the player saw his development come to a grinding halt when he sustained a major knee injury.
Zouma has made 71 appearances for the Blues and spent last season on loan at Stoke.
It might be hard for him to get regular playing time at Chelsea this season, so sending him out on loan makes sense.
Klopp has great expectations Liverpool will deliver
At the end, I'm pretty sure we have a fantastic football team on the pitch and hopefully I have to make a few decisions. We can improve our offensive play, we can improve our defensive play.
Everton want to add further quality to their ranks following a hectic finale to the summer transfer window, with Zouma identified as a loan target.
The Toffees left it late to make an approach to loan the France global but as both sides submitted their paperwork before the 5pm deadline, the deal was allowed to proceed.
The 23-year-old would likely have a better chance of playing at Everton, who now have central defenders Mina, Phil Jagielka, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate on their books.
However, he has less than 32 hours to make that happens as this summer transfer window shuts on Thursday, August 9, by 5pm.
