Cam Newton confronted Kelvin Benjamin in a heated pregame chat

Carolina Panthers: Top players to watch against Buffalo Bills

Prior to Carolina's preseason game against Buffalo on Thursday, the two met at midfield. In fact, things may have escalated.

Kelvin Benjamin made some strong comments last weekend about the Carolina Panthers and their quarterback, Cam Newton.

Much of the discussion was inaudible from the video, but Newton did follow an agitated Benjamin as he attempted to walk away from the Panthers quarterback. That may not be the case anymore, as Newton didn't seem able to say what he wanted when approaching Benjamin in-person. "I should've never went to Carolina".

"It was a bad fit from the get-go", Kelvin told The Athletic.

"If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?" Anybody! QBs with knowledge, who know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball.

Newton later waved off Benjamin in apparent frustration before the two parted ways for the remainder of warmups.

Charlotte Observer visual journalist Jeff Siner captured the exchange, which quickly lit up social media. Looking back on it, I should've just been drafted by somebody else.

Benjamin was traded last season to Buffalo after his production declined in the aftermath of an ACL injury.
