Pope has had a stellar domestic season as he scored 684 runs at average 85.50 and is the second-highest run-scorer in the County championship this summer.

Kohli lead from the front but alone as he scored a fighting 149 and 51 in the first and second innings, respectively, against England in the Edgbaston Test and toppled Steve Smith to top the ICC rankings for Test batsmen. However, Tendulkar, who made his India debut at the tender age of 16, gave Pope his blessings.

"I was around the changing room and had a hit at lunch so I had a bit of an idea what it was like to be here on the morning of a Test but it's a bit different when you're playing".

National selector Ed Smith told reporters, "Ollie Pope has made an exceptional start to his first-class career". "I had a flat tyre so I had to get a lift from a mate but I was in the auto on my own, saw Ed Smith's name pop up and I had an idea what it might be about. I called my parents and had a quick chat with them and they were buzzing".

OH 12th Congressional District Special Election Results
Whitmer had the backing of labor groups and EMILY's List, and continues a streak of wins by Democratic women in primaries. It's the last special election to take place this year before the highly anticipated midterm elections on November 6.

Ollie Pope hopes to follow in the footsteps of fellow 20-year-old Surrey rising star Sam Curran during England's Test series with India.

Pope has looked the complete package when batting for Surrey this season.

England have outstretched the selection for this week's match at Lord's against India to 20 year old Surrey batsman Ollie Pope, axing the struggling Dawid Malan. I have confidence in my own game to take the next step. It's not like it hasn't been done before. "When I bat at six sometimes I've been in the 10th over, other times I'm in for the second new ball", he added. He's quite a good person to listen to in terms of that. "There are going to be tough moments but that's what you play for". Just knowing I'm not one of the first ones to play when I'm young or after not a huge amount of games. But I feel confident in my game and I feel like I'm obviously on the back of some form. We have gone through the same path and the way he played last week gives me confidence to know I can do that too.

"Obviously I played with him (Curran) since we were 14 or 15, as soon as he came over from Zimbabwe".
