Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic made one change from the side which beat Russian Federation on Saturday with Marcelo Brozovic coming in for Andrej Kramaric.Croatia got off to the worst possible start when in just the 5th minute Kieran Trippier curled in a free kick to the top right corner from just outside the box to give England a 1-0 lead.

"We gave it everything, I know we're gonna look back and say we could have done this and what but at the end of the day it was small margins in a big game and it didn't go our way today", said striker Kane, now the tournament's top scorer with six goals.

England's World Cup dream is over after falling to Croatia 2-1 in extra time.

England took the lead with a magnificent free-kick from Kieran Trippier.

"It's not something I'm really thinking about at the moment to be honest, it's not the game we wanted to be in", Kane admitted.

"We've got to keep getting over those hurdles and I know we talked about the success of the younger teams but this is a much harder, much bigger level for the players and the belief is building as things are happening". We can hold our heads up high. "They underestimated Croatia tonight and that was a huge mistake".

In the end, England's best was not quite good enough - at least not this summer - as we always had expected.

But at the bilateral meeting he exulted: "We have a very, very good relationship with the Chancellor". Mr Trump said: "The US is spending many times more than any other country in order to protect them".

Kane is every defender's nightmare and, with six goals to his name at the tournament, the Englishman is raring to go as the Three Lions look to win their second ever World Cup.

"But we handled it well, but unfortunately we conceded at the wrong time, after that I thought we again picked it up again and done well". The Croatians rallied from behind to win 2-1 in extra time thanks to a goal from Mario Mandzukic.

But Croatia found energy after the break when the game opened up, making England's missed first-half opportunities seem all-the-more significant. Croatia, with one of the smallest population in this tournament at 4.171 million, is off to the World Cup final for the first time in team history.

"The gaffer had a little word and said we should all be proud of ourselves".

"This is history in the making, we've been waiting for this for so long". This is an wonderful achievement for us - it's a dream come true after such a long time.

"We're gutted", said Harry Kane, still on course to finish as the tournament's top goalscorer with six strikes in Russian Federation.
