Fakhar Zaman turning into a big-match player for Pakistan

"I've been doing a fair bit of work with recently about making sure I was watching the ball as hard as I can- Maxwell

The Man from Mardan, who made his name with a scintillating century in the ICC Champions Trophy final against India previous year, was at it again in the Tri-nation T20 series decided against Australia on Sunday.

Both teams are done with their rotation policy and they would be eager to play their full strength squad.

Zaman, who scored a career-best of 91 to help Pakistan clinch the tri-series final against Australia, bumped up 44 places on the table on the back of a stellar tournament where he also had scores of 61, 6, 47 and 73.

In the latest player rankings Finch leads Pakistan's left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman by 45 points.

Australia recorded a scrappy five-wicket victory against a weakened Zimbabwe with a ball to spare in the last round-robin match of the Twenty20 tri-series on Friday. With the decline in the fortunes of Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan are increasingly looking towards Malik to provide the stability under tricky conditions which saw them complete their run chase of 184 in the final, where at one point it appeared that Australia would embarrass the top-ranked team. He dipped from there, but six and 19 in the next two games ensured he was up nine spots since the last update at 812 points.

Short put on 95 for the first wicket with Finch (47 from 27 balls) despite him struggling for momentum early in his innings. Fakhar and Malik both build up a terrific 107 run partnership and completely shifted the momentum towards the World No.1 T20 side.

Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid to join Italian club Juventus
Ronaldo requested to be let go from Real Madrid , ESPN reports , but his old employers seem gracious about his departure. He also won four of his five FIFA Ballon d'Or awards while wearing a Real Madrid kit - in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017.

Zaman, on the other hand, was responsible for taking Pakistan to a six-wicket win in the tri-series final after slamming a career-best 91 in just 46 balls, which came after a spate of good scores in the series.

No wonder he moved up 44 spots on the table to reach No 2 with 842 points, also the best in his short worldwide career so far.

Finch, Zaman, and KL Rahul replaced an injured Babar Azam, Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell in the top three spots.

D'Arcy Short, Finch's opening partner, entered the top 10 rankings for the first time.

In-form India batsman Lokesh Rahul has jumped nine places to reach a career-high third spot in the latest ICC T20 rankings while his team has gained a place to be second in the team standings following the series win against England. The standing, a career-best number for him, takes him to 690 points, also a career high.
